How to form the letter Q
c first, then a long tail with a flick
Capital Q (2 strokes)

Draw a capital O
Start at the top, go round anti-clockwise and close it.

Add the tail
A short slanted line from inside the bottom right, out past the circle.
Lowercase q (one stroke)

Start with a c
Just under the mid line on the right, curve anti-clockwise round.

Go up to the mid line
Close the circle.

Straight down under the line
A long tail into the space underneath.

Flick right
Finish with a small curve to the right, so it cannot be mistaken for a p.
On the sheet: Q is for queen. Say it out loud: "qu-qu-queen". Can you think of two more Q words?
Common mistakes
What to watch for with Q

q written as p
Starting with the stick puts the circle on the wrong side. Start with the c, then draw the tail.

Tail hooks left like g
The tail on q goes straight down and flicks right. Left is a g.

Capital Q with no tail
That is an O. The tail is what makes it a Q.
