Letter B Worksheet: Trace B and b with Stroke Order (Free PDF)

B is one of the one-armed robots. A tall stick with two bumps for the capital, and a stick with one belly for the lowercase. The lowercase b is one of the most reversed letters. Every row on the sheet starts with a solid letter to copy, followed by faint letters to trace.

How to form the letter B

Stick first, then the bumps go on the right

Capital B (3 strokes)

  1. Start at the top, draw the stick

    Straight down to the base line.

  2. Back to the top for the small bump

    Curve out and round to the middle of the stick.

  3. A bigger bump underneath

    From the middle, curve out and round to the bottom of the stick.

Lowercase b (one stroke)

  1. Start at the top line

    Draw a tall stick straight down to the base line.

  2. Go back up the stick

    Stop about a third of the way up.

  3. Round the belly

    Curve out to the right and round to the bottom of the stick. The belly is in front.

On the sheet: B is for ball. Say it out loud: "b-b-ball". Can you think of two more B words?

Common mistakes

What to watch for with B

  • b written as d

    The belly ends up on the left. Always draw the stick first, then add the belly on the right-hand side.

  • Lifting the pencil

    Lowercase b is one movement: down, back up, round. Practise it in the air before touching paper.

  • Bumps on the capital are equal

    The top bump is smaller than the bottom one. Say "small bump, big bump" while tracing.
