How to form the letter Z
Across, slide down to the left, across again
Capital Z (one stroke)

Start at the top line, on the left
Draw across to the right along the top line.

Slide down to the bottom left
A slanted line down to the base line.

Across to the right
Along the base line. One stroke, no lifting.
Lowercase z (one stroke)

Start at the mid line, on the left
Draw across to the right.

A slanted line to the base line.

Along the base line. One stroke.
On the sheet: Z is for zip. Say it out loud: "zzzz-zip", like a bee. Can you think of two more Z words?
Common mistakes
What to watch for with Z

Backwards Z
The slope goes from top right to bottom left. If it goes the other way the letter is an S shape made of lines.

Lifting the pencil
Z is one movement with two sharp corners.

Bars of different lengths
The top and bottom bars are the same length.
