Capital L (one stroke)

All the way to the base line.

  3. Turn the corner and go right

Along the base line. One stroke, no lifting.

Lowercase l is as tall as a capital.

Common mistakes

What to watch for with L

  • Capital L in two strokes

L is one movement: down, turn, along. Lifting the pencil leaves a gap at the corner.

  • Lowercase l too short

l goes from the top line to the base line, the full height.

  • Starting at the bottom

Both forms start at the top line and go down.
